Grace morning on this tranquil and thankful Thursday.
Whatever is going on in your life, you can make it. It is not a surprise to God. Your broken marriage is not a surprise to God. Your health, heart, and home issues is not a surprise to God. God is not shocked when you’re terminated from your job. He is not “caught off guard” by anything that happens in your life.
When God doesn’t answer our prayers exactly the way we want Him to we’re disappointed. You didn’t get the job that you wanted, you or your relative didn’t get healed without having to go into surgery. When we think back about those things that didn’t turn out the way we planned and prayed for, we have a tendency to doubt and not trust God. On top of all this, some are determined to keep company with the worldly views and lifestyle of their home boys or home girls, while also trying to maintain their trust in the true and living God.
The truth of the matter is; we take our preferences and turn them into God promises - even when those aren’t actually things He has promised to do. Then when it doesn’t happen the way we thought it should happen because we misinterpreted the promise or took it out of context, be honest, we think that God didn’t keep His promise.
“When God wanted to further demonstrate to the heirs of the promise that his purpose doesn’t change, he guaranteed it with a solemn pledge. So these are two things that don’t change, because it’s impossible for God to lie. He did this so that we, who have taken refuge in him, can be encouraged to grasp the hope that is lying in front of us.” Hebrews 6:17-18 CEB
Even though we must take responsibility for our own choices in life, it is a comfort to know that God can take even our bad choices and cause them to work for our good when we trust and believe in His Word.
Live, love, and laugh your way through this tremendous and triumphant Thursday!
